BLACKBURN charity Nightsafe held its third Sleep In on August 30 .

The monthly event celebrates it's 30th anniversary and raised cash to help tackle the plight of youth homelessness in East Lancashire.

Nightsafe invited people to sleep anywhere except their own bed – whether that’s in a tent in the garden, a sofa fortress in the lounge or even in the bath.

Everyone who took part was encouraged to make a donation to the charitys Just Giving page to help it make up £100,000 funding shortfall they face this year as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak.

All their major fundraising events have been cancelled with funding streams and grant applications deferred until next year.

Nightsafe provides shelter for vulnerable young people aged 16to 24 with a night shelter and a day shelter

Chief executive Jan Larkin said: “The young people are the heart of everything we do here at Nightsafe - but if we don’t raise £100,000 this year it may mean we are not able to continue to offer these services to those who need it most.

“The Sleep In events have been successful and we have loved the creative places people have stayed and photos of people having fun while raising money.”
