A woman has been threatened with a knife in her own home before being robbed of jewellery.

Around 12.15pm on Wednesday, police were called to Stanley Mount in Sale after receiving reports that two men had entered a house and threatened a woman with a knife.

The men had then demanded jewellery before leaving the property and heading in the direction of Walton Park.

Thankfully, the victim was not seriously injured and police are now appealing for information.

So far no arrests have been made but an investigation is underway.

The first offender is described as being white and wearing dark coloured clothes, while the second is described as also wearing dark coloured clothes and possibly carrying a red bag.

Detective Sergeant Phil Bainbridge, of GMP’s Trafford district, said: “This was a shocking incident that has, understandably, left the victim shaken.

"Thankfully, she was not seriously injured.

"We are doing everything we can to support her.

"We understand that incidents like this cause concern within communities but there are police officers in the area and I encourage anyone who is worried to approach them.

“Enquires are well underway but I would like to use this opportunity to appeal to anyone with information to pass it on without delay.

"Were you in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious?

"Particularly two males loitering?"
