METROLINK trams are now running up until midnight along the Oldham line and across Greater Manchester, it has been confirmed.

Mondays to Saturdays, the last tram has been moved up from 10pm to 11pm, according to transport chiefs.

And in addition the frequency of services will be extended to every 15 minutes, as more travellers return to the network.

The frequency during the day, which had been 20 minutes or more in lockdown, is now every 10 minutes Mondays to Fridays between 6am and 7pm.

Trams will then run every 20 minutes to midnight,

On Saturdays there will be a tram every 10 minutes from 8am to 8pm - then every 20 minutes until midnight.

Alex Cropper, Transport for Greater Manchester’s operations head, said: “These changes will make it easier for people to get around the city-region, especially later at night.

"We are now seeing an increased demand, so we’re extending the running times and the frequency of services, as well as ensuring that we’re operating as many double services as we can across the network.

“We are working hard with our partners to ensure cleaning standards remain as high as possible, but we would also remind passengers it is essential they wear a mask and watch their distance when using public transport. It is also sensible to continue to allow extra time for journeys.”
