A KEEN cyclist has made it her mission to cycle to 26 towns and places in Sussex, each starting with a different letter of the alphabet.

Laura Davies from Kemp Town in Brighton is already more than halfway there to completing the creative challenge.

She has undertaken a combination of shorter and longer rules as she crosses more letters off the list, with the likes of Falmer and Moulsecoomb two of her shorter round trips.

The Argus:

However, they were interspersed with gruelling journeys to Hurstpierpoint and Eastbourne, with a problem-solving cycle to Jevington allowing Laura to fill in the tricky J space.

For readers who may be wondering, she is going to Zion Gardens for Z and, allowing herself a little leeway, to Golden Cross for the letter X.

She is taking on the challenge to raise money for the Yemen Crisis Appeal, run by charity group Care International UK.

The Argus:

The organisation has distributed hygiene kits and provided safe water in the country through its work, as well as helping households deal with a cholera outbreak by setting up a cash-for-work scheme.

Laura said: “I will be cycling 896km across 26 Sussex towns in 35 days, starting from a town beginning with A and finishing with a place beginning with Z.

“I am doing this to raise funds for The Yemen Crisis, the UN have described this crisis as ‘the world’s worst humanitarian crisis’ with 21.2 million people require urgent humanitarian assistance, 9.9 million of whom are children.”
