AN Altrincham singer has enlisted the help of pop royalty for a charity single in aid of a host of charities.

Spandau Ballet's Steve Norman sprinkled some of his stardust over a cover of You To Me Are Everything, the hit by The Real Thing, for Gaynor Morgan.

For the track, former girl band member Gaynor had teamed up with Heartbeat star Tricia Penrose to raise funds for good causes including Beechwood Cancer Care Centre, The Roy Castle Lung Foundation, and Breast Cancer Now.

And to top it all off, legendary producer Pete Hammond came on board to give the number a modern twist.

He has credits on more than 140 UK hit singles from his time working alongside Stock, Aitken and Waterman, for clients ranging from Kylie and Rick Astley to Gloria Estefan.

Another showbiz pal, producer and musician Greg Morton, lent his Manchester studio and talents to help the girls lay down their vocals.

The artwork for their offering was also pulled together by Justin Leeming, from jglcreate, whose skills are often called upon for major commissions and live music events.

Gaynor said: "To have Steve Norman from Spandau Ballet come on board was just amazing as his sax solo in the hit song ‘True’ has remained an iconic sound played all around the world.

"And he has now given this song a completely unique sound, making it something very special."

The pairing have set themselves a £10,000 fundraising target for their chosen charities and set up an online page for donations.

Gaynor, the daughter of Manchester United star Willie Morgan, has never let the grass grow under her feet for too long.

From starting out as a junior tennis pro then coach, to later penning the revealing David Beckham, An Intimate Biography, she has never been far from the spotlight.

Several years with the 90s girl band 90% Angels saw the outfit support David Essex on tour and perform for the Duchess of York and share a stage with US icon Johnny Mathis.

Meanwhile Tricia was a fixture with ITV's Heartbeat from 1993 to 2010 but has also popped up in The Royal, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Boon, Justice, Fort Boyard, The Bill and Dancin' Thru the Dark.

She has been a Roy Castle ambassador since her mother Sue was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2010 and before now has been involved in another charity single for the charity, You Had A Dream In Your Heart.
