A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy has one highlight of the week...when the bin lorry pulls up outside his home.

Samuel Sanderson gets so excited that if he is not in the house, he gets his dad to film the bin lorry for him.

Here, Samuel, loved the visit by the crew from Urbaser, the waste and cleansing partner working with Burnley Council, pull up at his home in Cliviger and empty the bins into the back of the wagon.

He sits patiently waiting at the window and in the front garden to the point where the crew are disappointed if he's not around to greet them.

The collection crews and street cleaners have provided essential services throughout the coronavirus and, with more folk including Samuel being forced to stay at home, the amount of rubbish they have been picking up has increased as well.

Dad Daniel said: "He's fascinated with the bin wagon and watching the bins being emptied into the back of it. He's not been able to go to nursery so it's become a bit of a habit for him to watch them come along the street.

"Once when he knew he wouldn't be around for them, he asked me to film it so he could watch them when he got back home.

"He plays with his toys in his bedroom and pretends they are the bin wagon coming to collect rubbish. It's become so regular that if he isn't there the bin crew miss him."
