TWO people are in hospital following a serious accident where they fell from their motorcycle.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and a woman suffered serious injuries following the incident in Slaidburn in the Ribble Valley.

Officers were called at around 2.05pm on Sunday, July 12, following reports of the incident on Lythe Fell Road.

A 53-year-old man from St Helens had been riding a Kawasaki motorbike towards High Bentham when he fell from the vehicle suffering broken ribs.

A 42-year-old woman, also from St Helens, was a pillion passenger on the bike and fell suffering a serious back injury. Both were taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

Police believe a dark-coloured BMW car, travelling towards Slaidburn, could have been involved in the incident. The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

Sgt Martin Wilcock, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations Unit, said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

“We know this is a popular route with bikers and believe a large group of riders had just passed when the incident took place.

“I would urge the driver of the BMW to come forward and speak to us. If you can help please get in touch.”
