Tesco has donated 203,157 meals of surplus food in Sale and Altrincham, the supermarket revealed, as it hit a milestone of 50 million meals across the UK.
The food has been donated through the Community Food Connection scheme it operates with food redistribution charity FareShare. Every UK store participates in the scheme, now running for five years. Each month more than a million meals are donated.
Their CEO Jason Tarry said: “Our Community Food Connection has made a real difference to communities.”
