WHEN streets of terraced houses were familiar sights across East Lancashire this was how washing day would look in many of them.
Neighbours would run their washing lines across the (cobbled) street without fear of traffic pulling them down.
This photograph was taken on Tyron Street in Reedsholme, Rawtenstall, in 1965.
Along with donkey-stoning the doorstep, the washing line across the street is something which, once common, has died out.
What other common sights/chores do you remember that are no longer part of every day life?
