PEOPLE need to renew their parking permits before restrictions come back into play next week, council bosses have warned.

Those living in Trafford need to prioritise renewal or could face fines for parking outside their own homes once all restrictions and enforcement return across the borough from Monday.

The authority decided not to enforce residents-only parking across the borough while lockdown was in place but now restrictions are beginning to ease, fines will start to be issued again.

Cllr Stephen Adshead, the council’s executive member for the environment, said: “Can everyone please remember to renew their parking permits before Monday, June 22.

"Many residents are still to do so and we do not want to be in a position where people are given penalties and fines. Thank you for all your co-operation.”

As more non-essential retail stores are opening, and shoppers return to town centres, the need for residents’ permits has kicked in again, to ensure shoppers or visitors don’t take up spaces outside people’s homes, according to the authority, which wants people to renew online at www.trafford.gov.uk
