COUNCIL chiefs have received complaints that some bars and cafes were not observing social distancing rules.

As part of the rules, businesses should discourage crowding outside the premises and, where possible, use a queue management system to maintain the two metres separation.

Cllr Mike Freeman, executive member for public safety, governance and reform, said: “So far, most businesses have complied with the law and there have been few problems. Licensed premises which are found flouting the controls may find that this impacts their licence in the long run as we will take action. The rules are there to be followed and the council will enforce them - the health and safety of residents is our number one priority.”
