A gifted schoolgirl has used her time in lockdown to write and perform a song about coronavirus, before recording it remotely with her musician uncle.

Nine-year-old Amanda Payne from Rock Ferry put pen to paper to express the way she has been feeling about the Covid-19 pandemic, before conjuring up a melody and structure to the song.

The primary school pupil then enlisted the help of her uncle, Terry Payne, to add the music before her dad, Jon, pulled the whole thing together into a smartly crafted music video.

Amanda told the Globe: “I could not go to sleep one night and decided to write in my notebook about not wanting coronavirus to be around and not being able to play with my friends.

"When I did the same the next day, repeating my first part again, it sounded like it could be a song, so I carried on writing it.

"After reading it and humming it a few times I somehow came up with a melody and started singing it to my Daddy and that’s yeah, pretty much how it started.”

Amanda's own YouTube channel features her song 'Oh Corona', with the lyrics to the song and also a karaoke version.

Meanwhile, musician Terry Payne has both a YouTube channel and Facebook page.
