TWO members of 5th Ashton North Brownies have received Brownie Gold Awards despite the cancellation of all UK girl guiding meetings.

Branch Leader (Brown Owl) Mrs Alison Corser VR was concerned that Molly, 10 and Carys, 9, would not get the Top Brownie Award before moving up to the Guides in September.

However, she was told that the final challenge for the girls could be modified under the current lock down rules.

Instead of running an activity for their fellow Brownies, they were asked to plan a meeting, including a time line and listing what resources and equipment would be needed.

The girls produced their meeting plans with details of what was needed even saying that they would come early to set up and stay late to tidy up afterwards.

To qualify for the Gold Award, both Molly and Carys who made their Brownie Promises aged seven, had to complete at least two Adventure Badges.

They also had to find out about moving up to Guides when they were over ten, and gain some of the new Interest Badges and Skills builder Badges.
