A COMPANY has found itself at the centre of the Government’s emergency response to Covid-19.

Manufacturers Trafford Rubber Products Ltd have been added to an emergency list of firms the Government can rely on to support them in the fight against the virus.

The company, which makes rubber compounds for use in medical supplies, including ventilators, has now signed up to a Government appeal to help the national effort.

The appeal was listed in Trafford Council’s business bulletin – a rundown of business news and activities in the borough sent out daily.

The firm, which is continuing to operate as it is listed as an essential company, then had a call from the Cabinet Office to confirm their new status.

The manufacturers have also been helping in the local fight against coronavirus, working to provide a large order of rubber sheeting for the new NHS Nightingale Hospital at Manchester Central.

Chris Brindle, group commercial director, said: “I am extremely proud of all the workforce for all the hard work they are putting in during these difficult times.

"I read in the council’s business bulletin about the appeal from the Government and put our name forward straight away.

"I was delighted to receive the call from the Cabinet Office – we are here and ready to help when needed.

“We are also proud to have been able to help the new Nightingale Hospital in central Manchester.

"This is a time for everyone to pull together and help – and that’s exactly what we aim to do. Again, a massive thank you to all my staff and to Trafford Council for the bulletin.”

Cllr James Wright, the council’s executive member for housing and regeneration, said: “I am proud that the Trafford manufacturing community is pulling together during these very difficult times.

"This coronavirus situation is unprecedented and we need everyone to help as much as possible.

“Well done to all the staff at Trafford Rubber Products – a great team effort. I am proud that a local company has been recognised as such an asset by the Government.”
