Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers from Trafford launched a rainbow poster competition across Facebook to help spread some joy amid the coronavirus lockdown.
Since Saturday 28 March, police officers in the Trafford North area have been encouraging children to get creative and display colourful rainbow pictures in their windows in thanks to NHS staff and to brighten up the community and lift spirits as people go out during their daily exercise.
Pictures of rainbows have been appearing in windows across the country as people try to stay positive while they are locked in their homes during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Trafford team received over 300 entries. 10 winners were selected and they and many more entries had Easter Eggs left on their doorsteps by GMP officers and a special thank you from Buster the Bobby via social media, as a well done for all their efforts.
The two officers behind the idea were PC Ben Norton, who wanted to do something that would keep the children of Trafford smiling whilst they were staying indoors, and PC Andy Walsh who thanked the community of Trafford for their ongoing support of the emergency services, as well as Tesco Stretford, ASDA Trafford Park and WHSmith at the Trafford Centre, who donated the Easter Egg prizes.
