A youngster with cystic fibrosis has also issued a plea for people to stay inside, so he can "get out, play football, go to school, see my friends".

Frankie Colton, 10, of Wibsey, had to have a liver transplant at the age of three due to his condition and his immune system is suppressed, which makes him prone to catching infections.

He is currently being "shielded" at home for 12 weeks, with his parents and three-year-old sister, due to him being extremely vulnerable and high-risk.

The youngster has urged the public to follow the Government's lockdown properly, in a video posted on social media website, Facebook.

He said: "I am being isolated in my house for 12 weeks, recommended by the doctors.

"I've already done a week and it's already doing my head in, with my crazy sister and my family.

"I cannot stand this and I just want to get out, play football, go to school, see my friends.

"So please listen to the experts and stay inside, stay safe."

Frankie has to constantly keep active due to his condition, so he has put together a circuit in the family garden - which consists of weights, boxing, trampoline, skipping and basketball.

Mum, Lorraine Terry said: "Not being active could have a big impact on his health as cystic fibrosis causes the mucus to be sticky and breeds in the lungs if not moved, therefore results in a hospital stay."

The family has been coping well on the whole, she adds.

But, shopping has been difficult - Miss Terry while select hours are offered for vulnerable people, they often can't make those times and they have been in contact with the supermarket to resolve this.

She added: "We're having to rely on friends dropping essentials off which is hard work as everyone is trying to stay home.

"There's four of us at home and we're trying to keep a three-year-old entertained who doesn’t fully understand why we can’t visit family, or they can’t visit us, no park, no friends."

The family have a homemade routine to keep everything in check, which includes physiotherapy, medication, schoolwork and eating - the last one according to Frankie.

But, the 10-year-old would prefer to be back attending his football, swimming and basketball sessions - which have been cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

He is hopeful normality will return sooner rather than later, with his video sparking a positive reaction so far.

Mrs Terry said: "Frankie is overjoyed with the response and is hoping people stay in and follow the rules so we can get back to normal life quicker."
