CORONAVIRUS had its first impact on East Lancashire’s justice system when a man who had just returned from Venice turned up at Blackburn magistrates.
The man was a day early for a sentencing hearing and told probation he had got mixed up because he had just returned from the Italian city which is in a “locked down” area.
The court was told of the situation and magistrates ordered a two weeks adjournment so the defendant could self-isolate.
