IT IS the Southampton bar with 45 gins which has just celebrated its second birthday.

Clockwork Bar in Shirley Road boasts ten draft beers, ten ciders and five cask ales.

With a “chilled out and relaxed atmosphere” the bar turned two-years-old at the start of February.

It hosts regular DJ nights, quiz nights and live music events.

Punters can “bring and spin” their own vinyl and even enjoy a selection of board games.

Clockwork is the first business owned and managed by Andy Dubber and Steve Pitts.

Daily Echo:

Before opening the watering hole the two worked in insurance but “had had enough”.

According to Andy, 45, the reception from the community has been great and they have been made to feel really welcomed by both locals and other bars in the area.

Daily Echo:

Meanwhile, Steve, 43, claims to have always wanted to run his own bar and that his wife and family have supported his plans.

Andy and Steve regularly organise charity events through Clockwork including a sponsored walk from Bournemouth to Southampton for the city’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.

With its own five-a-side football team - Clockwork FC - the bar regularly screens sports events.

Daily Echo:

The dog-friendly watering hole does not serve food, but regulars are welcome to bring their own.

Steve said: “We wanted to make women feel comfortable from the start and that is why we offer so many gins as well as beers.

“It is a community place.

“I have met so many friends through the bar.”

Daily Echo:

Decorated with a collection of clocks the bar’s name is reportedly all about time with Steve and Andy wanting it to “run like clockwork” and be a place for people to spend time with friends.
