THE Bowdon Rooms will open its doors to primary schools throughout Trafford for the Altrincham and District Schools Music Festival on March 10 and 11 from 9.30-12 noon and 1.30 – 3pm.

On Tuesday it will be devoted to singing with larger groups in the morning and smaller ones in the afternoon. The following morning, instrumental groups will display their talents whilst in the afternoon, it will be the turn of dancers and choral speakers.

James Pearson, the secretary, who has been involved for 20 years, has organised the festival for the last two years explained that the adjudicators would not be judgemental.

Anna Wright would adjudicate the music for the whole festival whilst Malcolm Thomson would speak about the dancing. James, himself, would adjudicate the choral speaking.

James said: “Last year we had a great variety of music. We had our first rock band together with bands, classical orchestras and samba bands.

“A lot of them will be returning this year.

“The music teachers get ideas from one another. It is nice for them to widen their interests. They enjoy that.”

The festival is open to anyone who wants to listen on condition they buy a programme for £2.
