A TEENAGER who claimed he had been goaded by his former lover saying she had someone else in her bed turned up at her house armed with a machete with a 60cm blade.
Blackburn magistrates heard Tyler Jennys’ 30-year-old former partner eventually managed to persuade him to go home.
Jennys, 18, of Dunoon Drive, Burnley, pleaded guilty to criminal damage to a front door panel belonging to Sheree Lloyd and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place, Amersham Grove.
He was sentenced to six months in prison suspended for 12 months, made subject to a community order for 12 months with 30 days' rehabilitation and ordered to pay £300 compensation for the damage.
Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said Miss Lloyd described herself as a neighbour and friend but there had previously been a relationship.
At 6pm she heard a knock at her door and looked out to see Jennys wearing a balaclava and carrying a machete.
She went to the kitchen window to speak to him and he demanded to know who she had in the house with her.
“She told him nobody and he became angry and started kicking the door,” said Mr Robinson.
“Rather than have him inside the house she went out and confronted him and she believed he had been taking drugs.”
He said police found the machete hidden behind a radiator at the defendant’s home.
Mark Williams, defending, said Jennys had been exploited by a drug gang and the police were aware of the position.
“He had the machete in his possession because of fear of this gang,” said Mr Williams.
He said Jennys had previously had a relationship with the lady involved in the incident and she had goaded him by claiming to have someone else in her bed," he added.
