SEVERAL bus stops will be relocated as Bury Interchange undergoes "essential" repairs.

Improvements are due to be carried out on the crossing points at the town centre station, lasting for four weeks.

Work will be carried out in two phases, resulting in the temporary closure and relocation of a number of stands.

Transport for Greater Manchester has brought in contractor Jamison’s to carry out the repairs.

Works will consist of replacing the concrete crossing points, road resurfacing, replacement of paving and alterations to the kerb, and adding drainage.

In an update on their website, TfGM wrote: "In order to allow essential repairs to be carried out to the crossing points at Bury Interchange, some stands at the Interchange will need to close temporarily.

"Some services will depart from temporary stops in the town centre, with others will use different stands in the Interchange. The crossing points within the Interchange will also be closed for both phases at various times.

"If you use any bus services please remember to allow more time for your journey and plan ahead.

"Transport for Greater Manchester apologises for any inconvenience caused."

The first phase of work will take place from Monday, February 24 to March 8.

During that time, bus stands A to E, and P to V will be closed.

During the second phase of work, between March 9-22, stands F to O will not be in use.

Bury Council tweeted: "Transport for Greater Manchester will be carrying out four weeks of work to improve the crossing points at Bury Interchange, starting on February 24.

"This will mean temporary changes to bus stands."

Work is scheduled to take place between Monday, February 24 and Sunday, March 22.
