Well Green Primary School is celebrating after holding a special ceremony to officially open a new activity track that has been fitted to the school field.

The track which cost £20,000 was partly funded by the school and the additional £10,000 was raised by the hard work of The Parents Teachers Association (PTA), pupils and their families through fundraising events.

The new track is already being put through its paces as the 245 pupils use it regularly in weekly PE lessons and running The Daily Mile.

Kate Markham, Headteacher of Hale Barns Well Green Primary School said: “We’re delighted with the activity track, the children are enjoying using it and we’re looking forward to the warmer weather when it will really come into its own. I’d like to thank the PTA, the pupils and their families who supported all our fundraising efforts, which included bake and takes, a disco, a summer BBQ and the Christmas Fair they all enabled us to raise such a large amount of money.”

The ceremonious ribbon cutting was done Simon Dow community sports manager from Altrincham Football Club and Angela George a teaching assistant at the school.

Ms George is a true inspiration and sporting hero at Well Green Primary as she has been selected to be a member of Team GB’s Age Group ETU Sprint Distance Duathlon at the European Championships taking place in Spain in March 2020.

“All the staff and pupils wish Angela George the very best as she heads off to Spain next month to compete in the European Championships. We will be cheering her on and we’re very proud,” commented Mrs Markham.
