RESIDENTS on a busy Blackburn road are outraged about a bus stop appearing outside their properties without any notice.

Diane Norris, who lives on Burnley Road, came home from work on Monday to see that the stretch of pathway outside her house had been dug up and fenced off.

Then on Tuesday her husband told her that a new bus stop had appeared after it had moved to outside the former Hole House pub.

The 45-year-old said: “I’ve had no notice of this whatsoever off the council and neither have the neighbours.

“The bus stop used to be further up from my house a year-and-a-half ago and they then moved it to outside the old pub for the new bus route on Carl Fogarty Way.

“Blackburn with Darwen Council held a consultation when Carl Fogarty Way was being built about the options where the bus stop should go, and my neighbours and I said we did not want it there," she added.

“They never got back to us after the consultation and then my husband told me that they had put a bus stop outside our house.

“There is no nowhere to park for us, and one of my neighbours has a pram and she won’t be able to park there.

“You cannot park your car there as it will affect the buses, so where are we to park?" she said

“We are all just angry that we were not told about it happening and no real consultation.

“I just don’t know what to do about it and my husband has tried to get in touch with Blackburn with Darwen Council about it.

“We just thought they were digging up the road to do some gas or electricity works on our road.

“We did not think there was going to be a bus stop out there.

“I am fuming as what a waste of taxpayers' money to move it a year-and-a-half ago to move it back to almost where it was before,

“There are a number of my neighbours who are not happy about it too.

“I am also worried that there is no room for anyone to get past with big prams and I am worried about my dog getting stressed with people standing there,” Mrs Norris said.

A Blackburn with Darwen Council spokesman said: “This bus stop has unfortunately been placed incorrectly and will be moved shortly.”

The stop will be placed near to number 135 as stated in previous consultation.
