Two males were arrested and appeared before the courts after being found in possession of knives.

Bradley Warburton (20/03/2000) of Thornbury Road, Stretford has been sentenced at Salford and Manchester Magistrates Court to 6 months in a Young Offenders Institute after pleading guilty to possession of a bladed article, contrary to Section139 Criminal Justice Act 1988 and possession of a class B drug, contrary to Section 5(2) Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.

Another male who cannot be named due to his age, also pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article, contrary to Section139 Criminal Justice Act 1988 and has been bailed until 3rd February for sentencing.

In the early hours of Friday the 10th January, Trafford Council CCTV alerted police to reports of two males who appeared in possession of a knife outside the Slug and Lettuce in Sale Town Centre.

A GMP Trafford North spokesman said: "Patrols along with a dog handler, attended and following a search of the males Mr Warburton was found with a large bread knife in his waist band and a large kitchen knife tucked in his sock.

"He was also found in possession of cannabis.

"The other male was found with a kitchen knife in his waist band.

"Both were arrested and taken to custody where A relief took over the investigation and both were charged and remanded for court the next day.

"(It was) A fantastic team effort between the council, A and C relief which has seen another three knives taken off our streets."
