PARENTS have been invited to learn about their child's emotional and behavioural development as part of a pilot scheme.

A primary school in Bury is trialling an online parenting course about children, their development, emotions and behaviour.

Christ Church CE Primary School, in Walshaw, has sent a letter to all parents inviting them to participate in the free online NHS Parenting Course, 'Understanding Your Child'.

A message on the school's website reads: "We have been asked at Christ Church to trial an online parenting course. I do hope that you will have a look at the course elements and that you find it useful. The course is fully funded by the local authority SEMH partnership."

Plans for a pilot pathway looking at social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) inclusion were outlined in the Bury Local Transformation Plan for Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing 2015-2020.

The pilot places an emphasis on "early identification of problems, triage and provision of support prior to the requirement secondary assessment referral for ASC or ADHD."

It is aimed at those who care for children aged 0-18, and focuses on how emotions impact on behaviour.
