A PENSIONER suffered head and leg injuries as she was hit by a car.

Police and paramedics were called to Blackburn Road in Great Harwood at 6pm after the 74-year-old was hit by a car at 6pm.

The road has been closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident between Waverledge Road to Rushton Street.

Force incident manager Kim Sturgess said the woman was taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

She said: "The car stopped at the scene and there is not a criminal investigation taking place.

"The incident is classed as serious.

"No one has been arrested but the road is still closed due to investigation work taking place."
