A SOCIAL action project run by Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy in Runcorn saw more than 60 essential food and drink hampers created for members of both the school and local community.

Generous donations from students, parents and staff piled in across December as part of the academy's annual ‘Winter Warmer' project.

The mass collection of pasta / noodles, rice, sauces, soups, cereals, hot drinks and treats meant that more hampers than ever before were created for people in need over the festive period.

Mrs Snagg who led on the project said: "The whole school got behind this project and we had an overwhelming amount of donations.

"'Winter Warmers' is now an annual Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy initiative and it is heart-warming to see how it is growing year on year.

"The academy would like to thank Adult and Children's Social Care who kindly distributed our hampers to local residents over the Christmas holidays.

"In addition to the hampers, the huge volume of food, drink and treat items donated meant that we were also able to donate two enormous crates of food to Runcorn Food Bank and a bag full of blankets and toys to the local women’s refuge.

"By giving a little – together we achieved a lot."
