THREE people were treated for smoke inhalation after a tumble dryer burst into flames in their home.

Two men and a woman fled from a house in Pendlebury Street, Astley Bridge, when the electrical appliance caught light in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Three fire engines from Bolton Central, Bolton North and Farnworth Fire Stations attended the incident at about 12.45am.

All three of the occupants had got themselves out of the mid-terrace property before crews arrived, and the blaze was out on their arrival.

Firefighters gave oxygen therapy, a process which involves administering supplemental oxygen, to the three residents because they were suffering from smoke inhalation.

The ambulance service attended but no one was taken to hospital.

Crews remained at the scene for just over one hour.
