I WOULD like to say a huge happy Christmas and thank you to the Messenger's columnist Wayne Devlin for his brilliant support and promotion of the Trafford area. He has certainly helped put Urmston on the map and has shown what great people, places and events we have here all across Trafford.

If more people spoke positively and encouragingly about their area what a wonderful place it would be. When a paper is riddled with doom and gloom you can always count on Wayne's World to lift your spirits. It's a great read and must be a chore for him to fill every week but fill it he does and if I may say so with some great content.

What makes it extra special for me is the fact that, I've been told, that he does it all for free in his own time! So all the events he attends and all the time he spends writing and promoting comes out of his own pocket. Fantastic.

He isn't a councillor with a political agenda either, who I might add get paid! He doesn't have a religious standpoint to preach about and ram down our throats. He is just a decent gentleman. It all comes from just being a nice bloke! I've spoken to several people who know him and I've seen him perform and he is exactly like what he writes, he's a nice bloke.

His interviews bring something new and interesting and very much needed to the Messenger, I always enjoy them. His good sense of decency is also a great breathe of fresh air for readers. It may not be fashionable these days to be as polite and respectful as we used to be, so kudos to him for standing up and leading by example for common decency and respect. Also, apart from his tacky, and I get that that was the point, Christmas jumper, he is without doubt the best dressed man in Trafford as has been pointed out by several other readers. He must have a million different suits!

So I just wanted to say Happy Christmas to Mr Devlin (and 'my Val') and long may Wayne's World grace the pages of our local rag. Thank you for what you do here Wayne. You're one in a million.
