A CALDERSTONES resident assaulted members of staff on two separate occasions.

Blackburn magistrates heard the first incident involved two support workers and was sparked because Kara Lily Turner was not allowed to use the Tv remote control.

Turner, 29, of Mitton Road, Whalley, pleaded guilty to three charges of assaulting an emergency worker.

She was ordered to pay £50 compensation to pone of the victims and £25 to each of the others and pay £35 victim surcharge.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Lisa Cottam and Leanne Torz were working in their capacity as support staff when Turner became abusive because she wasn't allowed to have the TV remote because of fears she may swallow the batteries.

"She punched Miss Torz and then grabbed Miss Cottam by the neck," said Miss Allan.

"As she broke away Miss Cottam was punched in the chest and both victims activated their emergency beeps to summon help."

The assault on Sandra Conroy came after she had taken Turner to Pizza Hut.

They finished their meal and left but Turner became abusive when they got in the car and started punching Miss Conroy.

The court was told the defendant's mental state was "chronic and enduring" and there was no immediate prospect of her being released.
