A MAN went on a “bender” after a family court ruled he could not see his two-year-old daughter until she was 18.

Blackburn magistrates heard Liam Hughes’ drink and drug binge led to him being thrown out of the supported accommodation where he had been resident since his release from prison a month earlier.

Three days after his eviction Hughes broke a window at his old home planning to go in and have a wash and get out of the rain.

Hughes, 32, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to damaging a window belonging to Recovery Homes.

He was made subject to a community order for four months with an order banning him from entering Gayle Way, Accrington. He was ordered to pay £200 compensation to Recovery Homes which helps people with drink and drug abuse.

Gareth Price, defending, said: “He had a family court hearing at which he was told he could not have any contact with his daughter until she was 18,” said Mr Price. “He was very upset by and admits he went on a drink and drugs bender.”
