A MAN with an “appalling” record for drink related driving offences has been jailed for his latest offences.
Blackburn magistrates heard Rimanta Vistatas was three times the legal limit when he was breathalysed after reversing into another car.
And the court was told he was still subject to the disqualification imposed for his last offence in 2018.
Vistatas, 50, of Victoria Street, Nelson, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, while disqualified and without insurance.
He was jailed for 12 weeks, banned from driving for four years and ordered to pay £122 victim surcharge.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said a witness was driving behind Vistatas when he suddenly stopped and then reversed as if he had missed his turning. He reversed into the other man’s car. She said Vistatas had alcohol related driving offences in 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client, an HGV mechanic, accepted he had been extremely foolish.
