A SPICE addict kicked out by his dad after he twice found him in a “zombie-like” state broke into his father’s house.

Blackburn magistrates heard Dean Green-Lynch claimed he only wanted to retrieve his own property but admitted he then stole cash and other property.

Green-Lynch, 28, of Oxford Close, Blackburn, was convicted in his absence of burglary and theft of two e-cigarettes together worth £250.

He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with 20 rehabilitation activity days, fined £60 with £90 victim surcharge and £100 costs and £140 compensation.

He was made subject to a restraining order which prohibits him from having any contact with his dad for 12 months.

Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said Gareth Green-Lynch had taken the defendant in in an attempt to turn his life around.

“He bought him clothes, paid for a haircut and was trying to change his son’s life,” said Mrs Yates. “After finding him in the house in a zombie like state on two occasions he kicked him out.”

Mrs Yates said two days later Mr Green-Lynch was driving into town when he got a call from his son who was saying he wanted to collect his clothes.

“He said he would give them to him later and specifically told the defendant not to go to his house,” said Mrs Yates.

When Mr Green-Lynch returned home he found a kitchen window had been smashed with a concrete slab and property had been taken.

“The defendant was arrested and police said he appeared to be under the influence of spice,” said Mrs Yates.

Gareth Price, defending, said his client had failed to turn up for his trial and put forward his version. “He accepts he had been asked to leave his father’s house because of the relapses and he didn’t dispute that he went back to collect things that belonged to him,” said Mr Price.
