A MAN who had been arrested for something he hadn’t done urinated over his cell, including the mattress and blanket which required specialist deep cleaning.
Jake Andrew Walsh told Blackburn magistrates police had come to his home and arrested him at 2am and then kept him in custody for 22 hours while they completed their inquiries.
Walsh, 25, of Hereford Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to causing £150 of damage to the cell.
He was made subject to a curfew between 7pm and 7am for four weeks and ordered to pay £150 compensation.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Walsh had been offered a caution on condition he paid £150 compensation. The money was not paid and Walsh was taken to court.
Waseem Choudhary, defending, said Walsh had been arrested for an alleged offence of criminal damage.
“He was polite and calm and tried to explain that he was not responsible,” said Mr Choudhary. “He was arrested and taken away and he didn’t think that was fair.”
