Residents of a Hale housing scheme have thanked their local heroes at an awards ceremony held this week.

The Wellgreen Warrior Awards were presented to people who have improved the lives of those living at Wellgreen Lodge on Wellfield Lane, and were given out as part of a Christmas celebration for residents and neighbours who regularly use the scheme’s facilities.

The winners were Ronnie Lewis from Anthony’s Travel, who is the regular coach driver for outings and holidays from Wellgreen Lodge, Jenny Burton, who runs the Lodge’s Healthy Hips and Hearts group, and Judi Dixon, who looks after the Ladies singing group.

Also receiving awards were resident and social committee member Pam Bethell, Ann Saunders, who runs the Wellgreen Art group, and Beryl Wood, a member of the Wellgreen social committee.

Edna Robinson, Group Chair of Trafford Housing Trust, which owns and operates Wellgreen Lodge, presented the awards.

Ms Robinson said: “Wellgreen Lodge is a great example of how residents and neighbours can come together to enjoy each other’s company and create a real sense of community. I was delighted to present the awards to the unsung heroes who make a real difference to the lives of people in and around the Lodge.”

Wellgreen Lodge has a mix of one-bedroom apartments and studios alongside communal facilities including a lounge, kitchen facilities and a guest suite for family members.
