This will be my community website All About Trafford’s (www.allabouttrafford.co.uk) very first Christmas and what a year it has been!

Thank you so much to all who have used my site to find out what’s happening in the borough and to those who have listed their events, clubs and groups on the site.

It was my aim to make the site the go-to hub for local events for the whole of Trafford and it really has began to do just that. It’s success is down to you the community using it and I hope you will continue to do so and help me keep ‘All About Trafford’ right at the heart of Trafford.

Huge thanks to my good friend Jimmi Harkishin aka Dev from Corrie for coming on this weeks video to say hello and there will be another special guest joining me next week for my final video of the year. Don’t forget to visit the site from 6pm on Monday to see my weekly video ‘A Word From Wayne - Christmas Special’

I started off the week by providing the entertainment for the Over 50s Club Christmas party at Our Lady and the English Martyrs Parish centre in Davyhulme.

It was a lovely afternoon and I really enjoyed singing a mixture of rat pack classics and Christmas favourites to help celebrate the start of Christmas for the club members.

I’d like to thank Pat Kidd for inviting me along and wish her and all the members of the Over 50s Club a very happy Christmas.

Val and I were very kindly invited along to St. Clements Church in Urmston to enjoy the annual Christmas concert by Flixton Band and Flixton Community Band.

To me, nothing quite says Christmas like a brass band so we were thrilled to attend and get into the spirit of things and we weren’t disappointed.

Both bands were fantastic and we really enjoyed singing along to the carols.

It was also great to see the young children in the learners band and we were treated to a wonderful ‘Learners Christmas’ piece featuring young Ava Smith which was absolutely fantastic.

Former Mayor of Trafford and President of Flixton Band, Cllr Jonathan Coupe was also in attendance and it was great to have a catch up with him. I especially liked his Christmas tie!

I’d like to thank Andy Dodd for his kind invitation and musical directors from both bands, Matthew Ryan and Danny Lowery for their warm hospitality. We had a great evening.

The programme for the concert had a little quote at the bottom that sums up nicely the event.

It is by Dr. Seuss and it reads ‘Christmas will always be, as long as we stand heart to heart and hand in hand’.

The following day we went to the Christmas Fair at Stretford Public Hall which was organised by the Friends of Stretford Public Hall. We really enjoyed browsing all the stalls downstairs before heading upstairs to the hall where Moss Park Junior School choir kicked off the entertainment and got everybody singing along and dancing to their Christmas carols with their heart warming performance.

The Public Hall is a beautiful building and it’s great to see the community all getting behind it and supporting it.

We are definitely in the Christmas spirit now and look forward to more events across the borough on the run up to Christmas.

See you next week!
