Altrincham has been named the happiest place in the North West, according to a new poll from Rightmove.

In fact, five of the happiest places in the whole of Britain are in the north according to the property's giant's Happy at Home index 2019.

The poll found residents of the Northumberland market town of Hexham are the happiest in Britain.

They join residents in other parts of the North of England – including Harrogate, Skipton and Southport – which also appeared in the top 10 list compiled by property website Rightmove.

And it was Altrincham, which came in at sixth nationally, which topped the poll in the North West.

But how happy is your town? We've compiled a list of all the towns in the North West.
