If you live in Trafford, where you vote might have changed for this general election and you’ll need to check your polling card carefully.
Trafford Council approved a change of address to 13 polling stations across the borough at a meeting last night and it confirmed the changes will affect where people must go to vote in the upcoming general election on Thursday December 12.
The authority has indicated that signs will be clearly displayed at old polling stations that are no longer in use, with directions to the new locations provided.
It also confirmed that polling cards that have already been delivered clearly show the new addresses for new polling station locations along with notice that former polling stations are no longer in use.
Councils are required by law to review their polling stations and districts within a strict time frame.
The last time it looked at its polling stations and their suitability was back between October 2013 and January 2015.
The council must now review its polling stations again between October 1 2018 and January 31 2020.
This change of address for 13 polling stations is the outcome of that review process and changes have been made “with a view to reducing the number of schools that are used as polling places”, according to council documents.
