THOUSANDS of people lined the streets for the Accrington Lights Switch-On on Thursday night.
There was a real buzz on Blackburn Road as families enjoyed the acts and entertainment on show.
A spokesman said: “It was the first time that the Accrington Community Events team has hosted the event and we are so proud of what we achieved, We believe that Accrington deserves a light Switch on to proud of and we hoped we fulfilled this. We have had fabulous support from the community and also from local businesses. The event was partly funded by Hyndburn Borough Council and also through fundraising. Businesses in Accrington such as Tesco, Asda and Wilkinson’s also gave donations.”
There was a magical market with local traders, charity and community stalls and was rounded off with a fireworks display and fake snow.
