Altrincham Rotary Club is collecting toys, tins and treats for underprivileged families this Christmas.

The group hopes to collect 3,000 toys from its collection boxes, which are placed in shops around Altrincham.

The collection finishes on Saturday, December 21 and the donations will then be brought to the Salvation Army in Sale before being distributed to families in need.

Jag Singh, President of the Rotary Club, said: “We have collected these treats now for several years and it makes a big difference to these families who may not necessarily receive such presents.

“It makes their Christmas so much better.”

Collection boxes can be found in Rackhams, Boots, WILKO, Marks and Spencer, Randalls Jewellers and Altrincham’s Salvation Army.

The Rotary Club is accepting donations of toys for children of any age – although the group tends to receive fewer donations for teenagers.

Tins of food, tubs of chocolates and selection boxes are also welcomed.

The club have also organised for Santa to appear at WILKO in Altrincham on Saturday, November 23, from 11am-4pm.
