FAR from being miserly, the Shelley Theatre in Bournemouth is offering the chance to see three West End stars on Monday, December 23.

The musical Christmas show, Baaa Humbug: A Stocking Full of Show-tunes features the talents of James Hume (Mary Poppins, Titanic, Les Misérables), Paul Wilkins (Hair, Les Misérables, The Dreamers) and Earl Carpenter (Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, We Will Rock You). The audience can expect iconic songs from some of the world’s greatest musicals in an evening packed with musical anecdotes, witty banter and an abundance of Christmas merriment.

The eagerly anticipated show has been devised by Broadway and West-End Star, Earl Carpenter and co-produced by international performer, Paul Wilkins.

Earl learned his craft in Bournemouth and has enjoyed a 27-year career and is best known for playing Javert in Les Misérables and Phantom in Phantom of the Opera, in which he performed over 2,000 times on London’s West-End and around the UK. Alongside his acting career, Earl is creative director for Ginger Boy Productions and devised and directed the concert phenomenon, Three Phantoms that has toured extensively throughout Europe and UAE.

Having spent the last three months in the West End performing in Les Misérables alongside Alfie Boe and Michael Ball, Earl is looking forward to returning to Bournemouth.

Earl Carpenter said: “I don’t get much time to come back. Having a performance in my hometown is going to be incredibly special. It’s also an intimate venue, which makes everything a lot more interactive.”

Co-producer and performer, Paul Wilkins is equally delighted to be bringing the Christmas cheer to the south coast and Ireland this December. After a successful three year run in Les Misérables as Marius, followed by touring the UK and Germany as Claude in 50th anniversary tour of Hair.

Paul Wilkins says: “There will be festive songs, comedy and heaps of audience participation to get you in the mood for Christmas!”

Actor and director James Hume will be completing the trio, following his performance of My Fair Lady at Teatro Massimo, Sicily. James Hume, says: “The three of us and our lovely pianist will be performing songs from such fantastic musicals as Beauty and the Beast, The Producers and Phantom of the Opera. There will of course also be numbers from a show we’ve all been heavily involved with, Les Misérables.”

With accompanist Louise Helyer at the helm, Baaa Humbug: A Stocking Full of Show-tunes promises an evening fully packed with all your favourite show tunes, hilarious script topped off with an abundance of Christmas joy.
