FOUR men were arrested after a police chase on the M6 on Saturday night.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on the northbound carriageway in the Warrington area shortly before 10.30pm on November 16.

After a pursuit, the car in question came to a stop near junction 21 of the M6 at Woolston.

The occupants fled the scene, and the police helicopter was called out as part of a search operation.

Two men from Liverpool, aged 20 and 22, and two 42-year-old males from Blackburn were held after being traced.

Officers arrested the 20-year-old on suspicion of going equipped for burglary, one of the 42-year-olds was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and driving offences while the other was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

The 22-year-old was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and possession of an offensive weapon.

All four have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
