I recently had the pleasure of being invited to compere and perform for the Trafford and South West Manchester MS Society.

The society was celebrating its 60th anniversary with a special dinner at Sale Conservative Club on Dane Road in Sale.

On arrival, guests were treated to a complimentary glass of Prosecco and were then seated for a lovely three course meal, which was absolutely delicious. One of the highlights of the evening was the fantastic seated dance display.

The dance group, funded by the society, performed several seated dance routines to popular crowd pleasing tunes.

The ladies, of all ages and abilities, really enjoyed their seated dancing as did the whole of the audience. During the evening, the guests were also entertained by magician Harry Robson, who both delighted and baffled the audience with his stunning magic tricks.

Then I took the stage to perform a set of my Rat Pack and Sinatra classics and as requested, my charity single What Colour Is The Wind.

There is nothing finer for a performer than to perform for a lovely appreciative audience and this audience were fantastic, even joining in as my backing singers for the Sinatra classic 'That's Life' and taking to the dance floor for the high kicking finale of New York, New York.

I would like to say a huge thank you to the organisers, Elaine Radford, Karen Pennington and Amy Thompson, who put on a brilliant event and really showed what great work the Trafford and South West Manchester MS Society really do. They also put on one of the best raffles I have seen, with some amazing prizes! A big well done to the lady who won the star prize of a weekend holiday away!

Elaine Radford said: "I'd like to say thank you to the local businesses who donated prizes for the raffle, in particular the Bus Stop Cafe, Hairbank, Flixton Golf Club, Trafford Golf Centre, David Lloyd and Costco. Also a huge thank you to Sale Conservative Club and C&C Catering."

I'm very proud to have played my part in a lovely evening and wish the society all the very best. See you at the 70th Anniversary!

The following day Val and I attended the Annual Service of Remembrance at Davyhulme war memorial. It was a lovely service with the usual fantastic turnout from the community. I love to see all the generations of families coming together to remember those who gave their todays so that we may have our tomorrows.

The saying 'Lest We Forget' is not just a saying and to see our senior citizens sharing stories with our younger generations really does keep the memories and respect we all share for our servicemen and women alive.

It is only when we forget that we allow these things to happen again, so I hope we never forget and each generation keeps up this tradition of paying respect to all those whose lives are affected by war. For those who serve, have served and are about to serve, thank you.

To finish, I hope to see you all at 5.20pm on Friday November 15 at Queens Road in Urmston for our annual Christmas lights switch on event where I will again be the compere and singing some Christmas classics. Bring your children along to meet Father Christmas and don't forget to come and say hello!
