It has always been a great honour for me to be asked to host and perform at the Christmas lights switch on event at Queens Road in Urmston and I am thrilled to have been asked to do it all again this year.

The event takes place on Friday the 15th of November from 5.20pm to 6.30pm. (beside the Christmas tree on Queens Road) There will be performances from local school children, dance troupes, Flixton Community Brass Band and of course myself and the lights will be officially switched on by Santa at 6pm.

There will also be a kids Christmas crafts stall by Impact Tuition and a cake decorating stall by Gemm’s Delicious treats.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Mika and Luna, two beautiful white huskies from Sibes and Sled Dogs Husky Rescue who will also be making an appearance.

There's something new this year! For the very first time, there is the opportunity for you to take part in a festive Lantern Parade. Children are encouraged to make or bring their own lanterns, and I am really looking forward to seeing them, or if you are among the first 100 to arrive at Queens Road there will be a limited number of free lanterns and battery-powered LED tea lights that will be handed out to hold aloft and follow Santa on his sleigh to Eden Square.

I am looking forward to a great, free, family, community event that will officially bring Christmas to our lovely town of Urmston.

Now, you may remember that I wrote in a previous column about receiving a suprise email out of the blue asking me if I would accept an award from Sale Rotary Club. The award was the Tom Morris Community Commendation Award.

I had a lovely evening, and gorgeous meal at the Belmore Hotel, in Sale and I would like to thank the Sale Rotary Club for their warm hospitality and of course for the commendation award that will take pride of place in my home. Thank you.

I hope you all have a lovely week and i'll see you here in Wayne's World next week!
