Five young artists have been awarded the FS Legal Art Prize 2019 by Altrincham litigators.

FS Legal launched the competition in May to search for the North West’s best student and emerging young artists.

Competitors were given the theme of ‘five’ to celebrate the legal firm’s fifth anniversary and 23-year-old Gabriel Di Mauro was the overall winner.

He said: “I would like to give a massive thank you to FS Legal for awarding me their first ever art prize. I would particularly like to thank Julia Norris, Kit Sorrell and Bill Clark who have inspired young emerging artists and provided us with a platform to present our art to a wide and diverse audience.”

Gabriel was awarded with a £3000 prize provided by FS Legal.

He said: “The generous cash prize will give my practice a tremendous boost and has given me the financial backing I needed to launch my first solo show.”

Runners up of the show were Evie Spencer, Kanwal Hussain, Yasmin Lee and Victoria MacDonald who each received £500 for their submissions.

The artwork was judged by owner of Clark Art Gallery in Hale, Bill Clark, and the partners of FS Legal Kit Sorrell and Julia Norris.

Kit Sorrell said: “We would like to thank everyone who entered the competition. We have been astounded by the talent that we’ve seen.

“The FS Legal awards have shone the spotlight on the region’s most creative and imaginative young artists. We are incredibly proud to support art in our community.”

Each of the artist’s pieces were displayed alongside renowned Stretford artist LS Lowry.
