A MASKED gunman stormed a supermarket and terrorised staff in a late night raid.

The attacker made his way into the Tesco Express store in Green Lane Sale armed with handgun, shortly before 11pm last night.

He then put on a black balaclava and threatened staff before fleeing with cash.

The gunman made off down Green Lane, passing the Old Plough pub and turning on to Buck Lane.

No one was injured in the attack but staff have been left "shaken", police say.

Detective Sergeant John Seaton, of Greater Manchester Police’s Trafford District, said: “This was a shocking attack on people who were just doing their jobs.

“Thankfully no one was injured however that doesn’t mean to say that we are not treating it extremely seriously."

No arrests have yet been made but enquiries are on going.

Officers have also released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the armed robbery.

DS Seaton added: “We are appealing to members of the public to assist us in identifying the man in the image we have released as we want to speak to him in connection with the incident.”
