A MAN has died after being hit by a train near Winsford railway station.
The man in his 20s, believed to be from Northwich, died shortly before 10pm last night.
It is understood the man was with friends at the Brighton Belle pub beside the station shortly before the incident.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "At 9.53pm on 22 September, officers were called to the railway close to Winsford following a report of a casualty on the tracks.
"Paramedics also attended. However a man in his 20s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed. This incident is not currently being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service said: "We received a call at 10.01pm with reports that somebody had been hit by a train. We sent a senior officer, two ambulances, a medical director and a car."
