A TEENAGE boy has been arrested over an 'unprovoked and despicable' attack in Sale.

The 17-year-old, who was detained on suspicion of assault, is the second person to be arrest after a 20-year-old man was taken in by police yesterday.

It follows an incident at 8.45am in Urban Road, Sale, on Sunday, September 14, in which a man was approached by two other men who kicked him to the ground and then began stamping on his head.

The 59-year-old victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his head and shoulder.

Police have since renewed their appeals for information.

Detective sergeant John Seaton, of GMP’s Trafford district, said: “Whilst we have made two arrests I want to make it clear that our investigation remains ongoing.

“The victim has suffered an unprovoked and despicable assault and I would also like to take this opportunity to stress that such criminality will not be tolerated in our communities and we will do all that we can to bring those responsible to justice.

“Do you have any information that you think could help us? If so, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”

Following the arrest, the teenager has been released pending investigation while the 20-year-old man has been bailed.
