THE road leading to Beaumont Hospital is closed for a week due to roadworks.
Old Hall Clough, off Chorley New Road in Lostock, will be shut until next Tuesday.
Electricity North West started working in the road today but the company has assured people that the road will still be accessible for residents and businesses.
A spokesman for Electricity North West said: “We are providing a new connection to the electricity network in the area and to enable our engineers to work safely we will have to temporarily close Old Hall Clough from Thursday September 12for one week.
“Access for residents and businesses along the route will be maintained at all times.”
Bolton Council has anticipated that the roadworks will cause a low level of disruption.
Beaumont Hospital reassured staff, patients and visitors that the works would not have an adverse effect.
A spokesman for the hospital said: “It’s just some electrical works, the hospital is open and it’s business as usual.”
