A HALE BARNS church has a fundraising project to build a new community hall and has enlisted famed soprano, Martin Toal, to help raise funds.

The famed opera singer, who has performed across the country at Etihad Stadium, Old Trafford and for the Queen will be performing a one-off concert at Holy Angels in Wicker Lane.

The grand event will take place on Thursday, September 19 at 7.15pm at the church.

When asked to perform, Martin said: “My operatic / Irish mix immediately came to mind as the setting and wonderful acoustic of the church perfectly enhances the power and beauty of those songs and music”.

The concert is set to feature some of Martin’s most well-known songs, including from his most popular CDs, Aria Celtica, and Cockles Mussels & Aria, renditions of Danny Boy, O Sole Mio, Funicula Funicula and Nessun Dorma.

Accompanying Martin in a live band will be Lord of the Dance violinist Richard Sanderson, The Voice’s Scarlett Quigley, who will perform a duet with Martin of Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman’s Time to Say Goodbye and the local adult choir.

All ticket sales will be sent to the fund the community hall. Tickets are on sale now at just £12 at www.halebarnscarnival.co.uk or at Oxfam Hale Barns on Hale Road in Altrincham.
